During the 80s and 90s, Gadhafi has openly supported terrorism, which led to a deterioration in the external relationships of Libya.
Gaddafi was ousted from power because of the fall of Tripoli by rebel forces on 20August 2011, but still remained for two months centers of resistance in hands offorces loyal to Gaddafi regime in parts of Tripoli and in the hometown of the oustedpresident, Sirte. The fall of the last remaining cities loyal to Gaddafi and the capture of Sirte on 20 October 2011, followed by the subsequent death ofMuammar Gaddafi, marked the end of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya.
